THE WALLEMBERG FORUM IN TRIESTE

Cavour has been invited to hold a workshop on «Sistema Italia» during the Forum organized in Trieste on Nov. 22-23th 2018.

Top managers from several companies joined the workshop: SKF, Swedish multinational group leader in the manufacturing of ball bearings and mechatronics, with €7,5 billion turnover; ABB, industrial automation and robotics leader in the utilities, industry, transportation and infrastructure sector, with €30 billion turnover; Wartsila, one of the world leaders in Smart Technologies for the marine and energy sectors, with a turnover of €4.9 billion; SAAB, Swedish group globally active in products, services and solutions for military defence and civil security; Huskvarna Motorcycles, Austrian motorbikes producer which designs, engineers, manufactures and distributes motocross, enduro, supermoto and street motorcycles; Mölnlycke Health Care, Swedish medical product company; Permobil, Swedish manufacturer of wheelchairs and systems for disable persons; Stena Line, international transport and travel service business with the most comprehensive route network in Northern Europe; Munters Group, operating in the air treatment and HVAC; Hoganas, world leading manufacturer of metal powders for industrial application.

Furthermore, delegates from banks and public institutions joined the workshop, for example, people from SEB Bank and SSC Swedish Space Cooperation .

Cavour speech focused on the current political and economic environment in Italy and the political events occurred in the aftermath of Tangentopoli (1991) to date, on the macroeconomic framework and, finally, on the strengths of the Italian economic system, i.e. SMEs and “Industrial Districts” (or Clusters) among others.

Antonio Zecchino and Barbara Grieco spoke extensively about the Italian economic system and, in particular, about the Emilia Romagna region, presenting the system of the Supply Chain and Industrial Districts. Especially, the sectors of Agrifood and Automotive were examined, as well as the most representative industrial districts of Emilia Romagna, such as the “Food Valley”, the “Packaging Valley”, the ceramic, biomedical, mechatronic, automotive-supercar, and textile-knitwear district.

Finally, they showed a report on the M&A Activity in Italy between 2016 and 2018 and a presentation of the main critical issues occurring in cross-border transactions.

The Novare Forum has been held at the Italian office of Wartsila Group and concluded with a convivial dinner at the Antica Ghiacceretta Restaurant in Trieste.
