
WP Lavori in Corso and FBP Italia acquired the Avon Celli brand
Two leading Bologna based firms operating in the apparel and luxury district have joined their know-how and their resources to re-launch Avon Celli, historic brand for fine men knitwear.
WP Lavori in Corso, licensee for the distribution of the English brand Barbour in Europe and of the American brand Woolrich worldwide, and FBP Italia, company specialized in the production of fine cashmire knitwear, established a Newco for the acquisition of the Avon Celli brand.
Avon Celli is characterized by the choice of the finest materials and the more advanced technology in the manufacturing of high-end men knitwear made with cashmere and precious fabrics.
The Avon Celli brand has been created by Pasquale Celli in 1922 and it has always been synonymous of a perfect mix of craftsmanship and technological innovation; in 1998 it was acquired by FBP which strongly improved the brand by maintaining the product special features of top class quality and style; at that time Avon Celli reached a turnover of about 15 Million Euro.
In 2007, following a downturn period, the brand was sold to Doratex Group.
The Newco, 54% owned by WP Lavori in Corso and 46% by FBP Italia, has the aim to re-launch the Avon Celli brand in the international luxury market benefiting by the manufacturing technology of the Longastrino’s plant of FBP, which has always been a top quality producer of fine knitwear, and by the exclusive distribution of WP, which has always been specialised in the international marketing of leading fashion brands.
Cavour Corporate Finance promoted the deal and advised the two firms in the definition of the agreements for the acquisition of the brand.
